Fire Damage Restoration

Cheshire

Project Overview

June 2024 we were appointed as Principle Contractor following a fire that caused damage to a school kitchen in Cheshire. Our own in-house trades completed every aspect of reinstatement work that was completed to a very high standard, and delivered within time.

Project

Arrow Developments managed every aspect of the reinstatement work on this project, by utilising the extensive in-house experience of our multi trade teams, to vetting and appointing any specialist contractors where required.

Arrow Developments Ltd were appointed as Principle Contractor to undertake full reinstatement works as part of the insurance claim following a fire that broke out within the laundry room, that is situated just off the main kitchen area. The nature of works included, but was not limited to, replacement aluminium windows and door, replacement FD30 fire door sets complete, plastering, electrical upgrades, all aspects of joinery, replacement anti-slip vinyl flooring and decoration works, all to the customers specifications.

After agreeing estimated timescales for the project with the client, Arrow Developments were tasked with the liaison of the school maintenance staff, to ensure that each phase of the project was scheduled with the best interest of the school onsite staff at the forefront of our planning. Extra consideration had to be given to ensure most of the work was carried out throughout the six-week holidays, to keep disruption to a minimum. This obviously presented challenges in its self when working towards our deadlines, although our vast experience within this type of environment and constant communication with the onsite staff, meant that this had already been considered and having an extensive workforce has allowed us to be flexible in our “what matters to the customer” approach, so we were able to carry out certain aspects of the works through longer days and weekends, this then allowed us to minimise disturbance wherever possible whilst still keeping within the original timescales.

Prior to the schools returning in September, we assisted in setting up some temporary kitchen pods where the onsite kitchen staff could then prepare meals for the school segregated from where the reinstatement works were being carried out, again, to minimise disruption with the schools’ days to day tasks. We helped source and deliver a large commercial generator to power the pods, as well as running in water feeds and wastes out.

All of our operatives who had been working on this, and all other projects for us are Enhanced DBS checked, have experience of working within this type of environment, and are fully aware of our expectations whilst working on site, these include a mandatory requirement to wear our company supplied uniform with I.D. badges, ensuring all necessary PPE is worn when required, behave in a proper and professional manner at all times, abide by our strict “No Smoking” policy and understand that the consumption of alcohol or taking of any non-prescribed drugs or medication is strictly prohibited. Regular ad hoc site visits allowed us to supervise this, and also ensure that the workmanship is always kept to a very high standard, this also provides the site staff with a “Go to” person should they have any queries or concerns.

Our professional and caring attitude and willingness to be flexible towards this type of work, has embedded lots of confidence in our client, and has helped us to secure numerous other projects of this type with this, and also other similar clients over recent years.
